Mr. B. W. Grey has hitherto been

employed on the Temporary Staff under the circumstances

explained in Major-General Gascoigne's Despatch No. 341

of 31st. July, 1902. The Director of Public Works has now,

however, reported that Mr. Grey is performing his duties

in a satisfactory manner, ard in view of his 9 years'

service I recommend that he be now placed on the Permanent

Staff on the maximum of the scale of pay recommended for

the post he holds which I propose to include in the

Sterling Schane.
